The Burton Memorial Day 5K is the second stop in the Burton Race Series, bringing our community together to honor the military personnel who gave their lives in service. This event blends remembrance with celebration as we welcome the unofficial start of summer with a morning of movement, camaraderie, and purpose.
Runners and walkers will take on a closed, fast, USATF‑certified course, perfect for chasing a PR or simply enjoying a smooth, safe route through Burton. Whether you’re here for fitness, fun, or the social energy of race day, you’ll find a supportive crowd, friendly faces, and that unmistakable Memorial Day spirit.
Join us as we remember, reflect, and run together. It’s a meaningful way to kick off summer and another chance to earn your way toward the exclusive Burton Race Series medal in December.
DATE & TIME:
Monday, May 25, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. at Atherton High School. The run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:32 a.m.

T-Shirts are for sale for $17.00 in unisex sizes X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and 2X-Large. Shirts are prepaid only through May 17, 2026. Shirts will not be available to purchase at packet pick up or race day.

Virtual event
Not able to attend the live event? then you can Participate in the 5K Virtual event. Virtual participation will count towards obtaining a Burton Race Series medal. Woohoo!

PACKET PICKUP:
Early packet pickup will be Sunday, May 24, 2026 between Noon-3 PM at Complete Runner, located at 3170 S Linden Road in Flint.
Race day packet pickup and race day registration will open at 7:00 a.m. at Atherton High School.
5K RUN & 5K WALK AWARDS:
Winners in the run and walk divisions recieve an eye-catching award that demands to be shown off with pride!
First overall male and female
First male and female over 40 years old
First three males & females in age groups 10 & under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
PARTICIPATION MEDALS:
The first 400 registered will receive a custom participation medal.

USAFT CERTIFIED COURSE:
The 5K course is USATF Certified (MI17012MN) so you are assured of an accurate distance. The course will be closed to vehicle traffic other than local residents that require access to their property. An interactive course map is available here.
FACILITIES:
Restrooms are available in the school.
